This is a slice of an amethyst crystal.  The center is solid with many amethyst crystals around the outside.  

When I purchase gems for my jewelry I like to buy stones with unusual shapes or color.  This allows more options to make custom made jewelry. 




I like to use unusual gems in my work.  This is a "watermelon" garnet pin/pendant.
